Web Security
The following references come from the World Wide Web Security FAQ. There are several topics areas with questions and answers. I have chosen those which correspond to the information provided on our Web Magic site.
My personal feeling about the use of java, javascript, and frames is that you should use alternatives if available for any function in which you desire to use these features. If you do use these features to have your site accessible to all you MUST also provide alternative means of using the functions (i.e. navigation).
Do not assume that because most people use browsers capable of running javascript, java, and various plug-ins that they choose to turn these features on! There are many people that use browsers capable of running java or javascript but keep these features turned off in their browsers. Once they read about these security risks, there may be many more who choose not to take the risks involved in having these features turned on in their browsers.
There are many not capable of viewing framed pages so do you really want to turn these people away? Provide alternative pages even if that means duplicating your entire site. Seems to me it would be much easier to not use frames then to create two versions of the same site :)
